"Special At-Home Worship Service #6"
/We wanted to let everyone know that we did not meet together physically as a congregation this week because we wanted to protect our FCC family from any ripple effects from the novel coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19). But we did upload a “phoned-in service” for people to watch, as well as providing another “at-home” devotional for households to go through together.
We understand that it's hard to feel disconnected at this time when so many people are panicking and living in fear -- and maybe even feeling alone and vulnerable -- but we also know that the best way that we can keep one another safe is to prevent the spread of infection. That’s why we’ve been sending daily emails to everyone in the church family to help people know that we’re thinking of everyone.
With that in mind, we wanted to give people the opportunity to share some testimonies about how God is blessing them during this time -- not a matter of “getting through” this time and getting back to “normal” life, but rather seeing how God is working in this time right now because this is life at the moment.
Even though this is not what any of us had expected to be doing right now, and it’s not what any of us would’ve wanted, this time nonetheless still falls under the sovereignty of God, and He’s still working in us and through us. This is an unprecedented time in our living memory -- a time when all of humanity is struggling with the same issues and can come together to seek hope in ways that many people never would have considered two months ago. Especially as our nation fractures into factions, this is a crucial time for us as Christians to actively step out to extend the church’s wisdom, unity, and hope.
So even if COVID-19 and its physical effects are tragic in many ways, I nonetheless encourage you to see this time itself as a blessing rather than as a torture. Actively look for God’s blessings, look for the opportunities that He’s giving us, and look for those whom we can be reaching out to as ambassadors right now.
We don’t have to change the world today because it’s already changing -- we just have to take advantage of the opportunity that God is giving us.
